Advice from Fadlullah for polygamy

يجوز الكذب على الزوجة إن كان إخبارها بالحقيقة يؤدي إلى كثير من المشاكل كما لو سألتني إن كنت أريد أن أتزوج غيرها فإن قلت الحقيقة فقد يؤدي إلى الطلاق؟ الجواب: يمكنك في مثل هذه الأمور المحرجة أن تستخدم التورية حيث يمكنك أن تقول إنك لا تريد التزوج عليها مثلا وتقصد الآن وإن كان يفضل الوضوح في الحياة الزوجية وعدم إخفاء الرغبات التي ستظهر لاحقا
“Is it allowed to lie to the wife if it will lead to many problems, if one informs her of the truth, like when she asks me, if i would marry one besides her and it will lead to divorce, if i tell her the truth? The answer is: You can use ambiguous speech on such sensitive points, where it is possible, to say, for example, that you do not want to marry anyone besides her, while you actually mean: “Right at this moment.” Even if not to hide the clarity in the married life and the desires, which will eventually come to light anyway, are to be regarded as more outstanding.”[Al-Masa’il-ul-Fiqhiyyah, Page 595 Number 2392]
