Jesus announces Mirza?

Question:

Do the followers of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad believe that Jesus (a.) announced him?

Answer:

Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud writes: “As for the prophecy is concerned: “His name is Ahmad.” Which is in the Holy Qur’an (As-Saff 61:6), I believe that the passage contains a double prophecy that refers to two people. One is the counter-type and the other is the sample. The counter-type is certainly Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, while the proto-type is the Prophet Muhammad (s.). The passage in question speaks directly about the counter-type.There is certainly a reference to the proto-type, but only indirectly to the extent that the counter-type of a Prophet necessarily presupposes the existence of an original. Therefore the verse brings a prophecy concerning the original prophet from whom the immediate subject of the prophecy derives its sublimity. The prophethood of the Prophet Muhammad was not derived. He was an original prophet who did not owe the grace of prophethood to any human teacher, but was himself a giver of grace to others. To consider him a recipient of spiritual grace from any human teacher is, in my opinion, a deprivation of his due dignity. For this reason, and for certain other reasons, i believe that Jesus’ prophecy refers primarily to Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who is a reflection of the Prophet Muhammad and is a counterpart of Jesus Christ.” [Truth about the Split, pages 58-59]

Ammar Ibn Musa reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Whoever interprets a verse in the Book of God according to his own opinion has become an disbeliever (kafir).” [Tafsir Al-Ayyashi, Volume 1 Page 18 Hadith 6]

Abu Basir reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “We are those firmly grounded in knowledge and we know its interpretation.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1 Page 213 Hadith 1]

Abu Hamzah At-Thumali reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: “The prophets (a.) continued to announce Muhammad (s.) and this is the verse: “That they will find.” (7:157) By which the Jews and Nazarene are meant: ” Recorded.” By which the description of Muhammad (s.) and his name is meant: “With Himself in the Torah and in the Gospel. He commands them what is right and forbids them what is wrong, he permits them the good things and forbids them the bad.” This is the Word of God, which reports the statement of Jesus, the son of Mary (a.): “And to preach a messenger who comes after me whose name shall be Ahmad.” (61:6) Thus Moses (a.) and Jesus (a.) proclaimed Muhammad (s.), just as the prophets (a.) proclaimed the good news about one another until they came to Muhammad (s.).” [Kamal-ud-Din of As-Saduq, page 217 Hadith 2]
