You deny the Prophets?
Question:
A follower of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad said: “The sixth imam of the Shiites, Hazrat Abu Ja’far Siddiq, writes about the analysis of the verse: “We gave the book to the children of Adam.” (4:54) That Allah blessed the children of Adam with messengers, prophets and imams. It is regrettable that people acknowledge the blessings on Abraham’s descendants, but now consider the same blessings to be impossible and abolished on the descendants of Muhammad.” (4:54) (As-Safi Fi Sharh Usul Al-Kafi, B. 3 p. 119)
Answer:
[ 1. ] The sixth imam is Abu Abdillah As-Sadiq (a.)
[ 2. ] Verse 4:54 speaks of the family of Abraham (a.)
[ 3. ] A report in this wording does not exist
Buraid Al-Ijli reported that he asked Imam Al-Baqir (a.) about the verse: “Or do they envy the people for what God has given them from His favour?” (4:54) He said: “We are the people who are envied for what God has given us from the leadership instead of the creation.” And: “We sent the Book and Wisdom to the family of Abraham, and We gave them mighty kingship?” He said: “We appointed among them the messengers and the prophets and the imams. How do they confirm it with the family of Abraham (a.) and deny it with the family of Muhammad (s.)?” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1 Page 205 Hadith 1]
Buraid Al-Ijli reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) mentioned the verse: “We gave the Book and Wisdom to the family of Abraham and We gave them mighty kingship.” (4:54) He said: “He appointed among them the messengers and the prophets and the imams. How do they confirm it with the family of Abraham (a.) and deny it with the family of Muhammad (s.)?” I said: “And We gave them mighty kingship?” He said: “The mighty kingship is that He appointed Imams among them. Whoever obeys them obeys God, and whoever disobeys them disobeys God. So this is the mighty kingship.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1 Page 206 Hadith 5]
Al-Hasan Ibn Al-Abbas reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) mentioned the verse: “They worship Me and join Me in nothing. Those who disbelieve afterwards, these are the (true) transgressors.” (24:55) He said: “They serve Me in the belief that no one is a prophet after Muhammad. Those who say otherwise after this are the (true) transgressors.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1 Page 150 – 151 Hadith 7]
Comment:
What people reject are the twelve Imams (a.) after the Messenger (s.) Nowhere does the Imam (a.) blame them for rejecting additional prophets, because the Imam (a.) himself rejects additional prophets after Muhammad (sawa).
