Humans before Adam?

Abdullah Ibn Abbas reported that Abdullah Ibn Salam asked the Prophet Muhammad (s.): “Who inhabited the earth before Adam? He replied: “Those who are hidden (Jinn).” He asked: “And from those who are hidden (Jinn)?” He replied: “The angels.” He asked: “And from the angels?” He answered: “Adam.” He asked: “what time is there between those who are hidden (Jinn) and the angels?” He answered: “Seven thousand years.” He asked: “And between the angels and Adam?” He answered: “Two million years.” He said: “You are right, O Muhammad!” [Al-Ikhtisas of Al-Mufid, page 50]

عن عبد الله بن عباس عن عبد الله بن سلام أنه سأل النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: من سكن الأرض قبل آدم؟ قال: الجن، قال: وقبل الجن؟ قال: الملائكة قال: وقبل الملائكة؟ قال: آدم، قال: فكم كان بين الجن وبين الملائكة؟ قال: سبعة آلاف سنة، قال: فبين الملائكة وبين آدم؟ قال: ألفي ألف سنة، قال: صدقت يا محمد

Jabir Ibn Yazid reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: “It may be that you think that God has only created this one world and no human beings besides you, but however, by God, He created a million worlds and a million Adams and you are in the last of these worlds and the ones that descended from Adam.” [At-Tawhid of As-Saduq, page 277]

عن أبي رحمه الله، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا محمد بن عيسى عن الحسن بن محبوب، عن عمرو بن شمر، عن جابر بن يزيد عن أبي جعفر الباقر عليه السلام قال: لعلك ترى أن الله إنما خلق هذا العالم الواحد، وترى أن الله لم يخلق بشرا غيركم، بلى والله لقد خلق الله ألف ألف عالم، وألف ألف آدم أنت في آخر تلك العوالم واولئك الآدميين

Muhammad Ibn Muslim reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: “God created seven worlds on the earth since their creation, which are not among the children of Adam (a.). He created them from the earth’s crust and made them to inhabit it, one by one with their respective worlds. After that, God created Adam, the Father of men, and He created His descendants from him. No, by God, Paradise was not empty of the spirits of believers since its creation, and Hell was not empty of the spirits of disbelievers and sinners since its creation.” [Al-Khisal of As-Saduq, page 358 – 359 Hadith 45]

حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد رضي الله عنه قال: حدثنا محمد ابن الحسن الصفار، عن محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، عن محمد بن عبد الله بن هلال عن العلاء بن رزين، عن محمد بن مسلم قال: سمعت أبا جعفر عليه السلام يقول: لقد خلق الله عز وجل في الأرض منذ خلقها سبعة عالمين ليس هم من ولد آدم، خلقهم من أديم الأرض فأسكنهم فيها واحدا بعد واحد مع عالمه، ثم خلق الله عز وجل آدم أبا هذا البشر وخلق ذريته منه، ولا والله ما خلت الجنة من أرواح المؤمنين منذ خلقها، و لا خلت النار من أرواح الكفار والعصاة منذ خلقها عز وجل
