Al-Mahdi is a prophet according to Ahmed Al-Hassan?

Ahmad Al-Hasan writes:

السؤال / ٣ كيف تقولون أن النبي عيسى يظهر في آخر الزمان ويصلي خلف الشخص الذي تقولون أنه ليس نبي وأسمه محمد المهدي أليس هذا عجيب وكيف يصلي نبي خلف رجل ليس بنبي؟

“The third question is: “How can you say that the prophet Jesus will appear in the end times and pray behind the person about whom you say he is not a prophet and his name is Muhammad Al-Mahdi? Is that not astonishing? How can a prophet pray behind a man who is not a prophet?”

الجواب: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، والحمد لله رب العالمين أيتها الأخت، إنّ صلاة نبي الله عيسى بن مريم عليهما السلام خلف الإمام المهدي عليه السلام تحتمل أمرين

The answer: “In the name of the gracious and merciful God, praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds, o Sister, the prayer of the prophet Jesus, the son of Mary (a.), behind the Imam Al-Mahdi (a.) is possible in two ways:

الأول أن يكون الإمام المهدي عليه السلام أفضل من نبي الله عيسى عليه السلام وطبعاً لا يكون الإمام المهدي عليه السلام أفضل إلاّ إذا كان له مقام النبوة، وفي هذه الحالة لا يوجد موضع للإشكال الذي طرحتيه وحتى لو كنت أعتقد بهذا فإني سأطرح الاحتمال الثاني وأجيب عليه

The first one is that Imam Al-Mahdi (a.) is better than the prophet Jesus (a.) and of course Imam Al-Mahdi (a.) is only better if he has the rank of prophethood and in this case there is no room for the issue you have raised and even if i believe in it i will mention a second possibility and answer it.

الثاني أن يكون عيسى عليه السلام أفضل من المهدي عليه السلام وفي هذه الحالة يكون للإشكال الذي طرحيته موضع في دائرة البحث عن الحق والحقيقة

The second is that Jesus (a.) would be better than Al-Mahdi (a.) and in this case there is a place for the problem in the circle of research into law and truth.” [Al-Jawab-ul-Munir Ibra l-Athir, Volume 1 Page 8]

الإمام المهدي عليه السلام له مقام النبوة وهو أفضل من نبي الله عيسى عليه السلام
