Prohibition of the consumption of animals slaughtered by people of other faiths

Zakariyya Ibn Adam reported that Imam Al-Kazim (a.) said: “I forbid you from the slaughter of anyone who is an opponent (mukhalif) with regard to what you and your companions are on, except at a necessary time.” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 51, Hadith 9]

عن زكريا بن آدم عن الإمام الكاظم عليه السلام قال: إني أنهاك عن ذبيحة كل من كان على خلاف الذي أنت عليه وأصحابك الا في وقت الضرورة إليه

Abu Basir reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “The slaughtering of the enemy (Nasib) is not allowed (Halal).” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 67, Hadith 2]

عن أبي بصير عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: ذبيحة الناصب لا تحل

Abu Basir reported that he asked Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “What about a man who buys meat from the market, whereas he has someone who slaughters and buys from his own brothers, whereupon he takes the intention to buy from enemies (Nasib)?” He said: “What do you question me about, so that i should speak? He eats nothing but what is dead, blood and pork.” I said: “Praise be to God, that which is equal to blood, death and pork?” He said: “Yes, and more monstrous in the sight of God than that.” Then he said: “This is a sickness in his heart toward the believers (Mu’min).” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 67, Hadith 4]

عن أبي بصير أنه سأل الإمام الصادق عليه السلام عن الرجل يشترى اللحم من السوق وعنده من يذبح ويبيع من اخوانه، فيتعمد الشراء من النصاب؟ فقال اي شئ تسألني أن أقول؟ ما يأكل الا مثل الميتة والدم ولحم الخنزير، قلت: سبحان الله مثل الدم والميتة ولحم الخنزير؟ فقال: نعم وأعظم عند الله من ذلك ثم قال: ان هذا في قلبه على المؤمنين مرض

Musa Al-Kazim (a.) reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Whoever claimed that God forces the servants to disobey or holds them accountable for what they are not capable of, do not eat their slaughtered and do not accept their testimony, and do not pray behind them and do not give them alms.” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, volume 24, page 69, hadith 9]

عن موسى الكاظم عليه السلام عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: من زعم أن الله يجبر العباد على المعاصي أو يكلفهم ما لا يطيقون فلا تأكلوا ذبيحته ولا تقبلوا شهادته ولا تصلوا ورائه ولا تطعوه من الزكاة شيئا

Abu Basir reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: “The slaughter of the Harurites is not allowed (Halal).” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 67, Hadith 3]

عن أبي بصير عن الإمام الباقر عليه السلام قال: لا تحل ذبائح الحرورية

Yunus Ibn Zabyan reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Whoever claimed that God has a face like the faces, he has associated (Mushrik) and whoever claimed that He has limbs like the limbs of creatures, is an disbeliever towards God (Kafir), so he neither accepts his testimony nor eats his slaughtered.” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 69, Hadith 10]

عن يونس بن ظبيان عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: من زعم أن لله وجها كالوجوه فقد أشرك ومن زعم أن له جوارح كجوارح المخلوقين فهو كافر بالله فلا تقبلوا شهادته ولا تأكلوا ذبيحته

Companions of Ibn Abi Umair reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) was asked: “What about the slaughter of the people of the Book?” He said: “By Allah, they do not eat your slaughtered, so how do you allow yourselves to eat their slaughtered? It is only by name, and no one is entrusted with it except a Muslim.” [Al-Wasa’il from Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 53, Hadith 4]

عن أصحاب ابن أبي عمير عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام أنه سئل عن ذبيحة أهل الكتاب؟ قال: والله ما يأكلون ذبائحكم فكيف يستحلون أن تأكلوا ذبائحهم إنما هو الاسم ولا يؤمن عليه إلا مسلم

Hanan Ibn Sudair reported that he said to Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “Husain Ibn Mundhir reported to us from you that you said: “The slaughtered is a name and no one is entrusted with it except its people.” He said: “You have brought out in it something that is not desired in me (Mushtahin).” Hanan Ibn Sudair said: “I asked a Nazarene: “What do you say when you slaughter?” He said: “We say: “‘In the name of Christ.” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, volume 24, page 49, hadith 3]

عن حنان بن سدير أنه قال للإمام الصادق عليه السلام: إن الحسين بن المنذر روى لنا عنك انك قلت: إن الذبيحة اسم ولا يؤمن عليها الا اهلها فقال: أنهم احدثوا فيها شيئا لا اشتهيه قال حنان: فسألت نصرانيا فقلت له: أي شيء تقولون اذا ذبحتم؟ قال: نقول بسم المسيح

Zaid Ash-Shahham reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) was asked: “What about the slaughtering of a subject (dhimmi)?” He said: “Do not eat, whether he mentioned the name (of God) or not.” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, volume 24, page 54, hadith 5]

عن زيد الشحام عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام أنه سئل عن ذبيحة الذمي؟ فقال: لا تأكله إن سمى وان لم يسم

Ali Ibn Ja’far reported that he asked Imam Al-Kazim (a.): “What about the slaughter of the Arab Nazarenes?” He said: “They are not people of the Scriptures and their slaughtering is not allowed (Halal).” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 56 – 57, Hadith 15]

عن علي بن جعفر أنه سأل الإمام الكاظم عليه السلام عن ذبائح نصارى العرب؟ قال: ليس هم باهل الكتاب ولا تحل ذبائحهم

Muhammad Ibn Muslim reported that he asked Imam Al-Baqir (a.): “Do you eat the slaughtered of the Arab Nazarene?” He said: “Ali (a.) used to forbid their slaughtered, their hunting and marital relations with them.” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 54, Hadith 6]

عن محمد بن مسلم أنه سأل الإمام الباقر عليه السلام عن نصارى العرب أتؤكل ذبائحهم؟ فقال: كان علي عليه السلام ينهى عن ذبائحهم وعن صيدهم ومناكحتهم

Abu Basir reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Do not eat the slaughtered meat of a Zoroastrian.” He said: “Do not eat the slaughtered of the Nazarene from Taghlib, for they are the associates (mushrik) of the Arabs.” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Pages 58-59, Hadith 22]

عن أبي بصير عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: لا تأكل من ذبيحة المجوسي قال وقال: لا تأكل ذبيحة نصارى تغلب فإنهم مشركوا العرب

Muhammad Al-Baqir (a.) reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “Eat of the food of the Zoroastrians, except for what they slaughtered, because it is not allowed (halal), even if they mentioned the name of God in it.” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 56, Hadith 12]

عن محمد الباقر عليه السلام عن الإمام علي عليه السلام قال: كلوا من طعام المجوس كله ما خلا ذبائحهم فإنها لا تحل وإن ذكر اسم الله عليها

Isma’il Ibn Jabir reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Do not eat of the slaughtered of the Jews and the Nazarenes and do not eat of their dishes!” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 54, Hadith 7]

عن إسماعيل بن جابر عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: لا تأكل من ذبايح اليهود والنصارى ولا تأكل في آنيتهم

Sama’ah Ibn Mihran reported that he asked Imam Al-Kazim (a.): “What is the case with the slaughter of the Jew and the Nazarene?” He said: “Do not approach him!” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 55, Hadith 9]

عن سماعة بن مهران أنه سأل الإمام الكاظم عليه السلام عن ذبيحة اليهودي والنصراني فقال: لا تقربوها

Isma’il Ibn Jabir reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Do not eat what they have slaughtered, nor eat out of their dishes, by which the people of the Scriptures are meant.” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 24, Page 55, Hadith 10]

إسماعيل بن جابر عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: لا تأكل ذبايحهم ولا تأكل في آنيتهم يعني أهل الكتاب
