Benefit of the pomegranates

Question:

What do the people of the house (a.) say about eating pomegranates?

Answer:

Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “There is no pomegranate except that there is a grain of the pomegranates of Paradise in it. So if something falls off from it, eat it! Not a grain falls down and enters the stomach of a submissive person except to illuminate him for forty mornings.” He said: “He used to eat pomegranates every Friday night.” Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “Eat the pomegranate with its flesh, for it tans the stomach and not a grain dwells in the stomach of a submissive person, except that it enlightens him and Satan and the insinuation of him disappear for forty mornings.” He said: “When he ate the pomegranate, he spread out a cloth before him. When he was asked for it, he said, “Inside it are grains from paradise.” They said: “O Commander of the faithful, the Jews and Nazarene and others besides them eat it too!” He said: “If they wish to eat it, God will send an angel to take them out of it, lest they eat them.” Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Five belong in this world to the fruits of paradise. Of these, the pomegranate is from Amlis and the apple from Safsan.” It is reported: “The Syrian and the grape and quince and dates of Rutb and Mishan.” Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Of every believer who eats a pomegranate until he gets tired of it, God removes Satan’s influence on his heart for one hundred days, and whoever eats three, God removes Satan’s influence on his heart for one year, and from whom God removes Satan’s influence from his heart, he does not sin, and whoever does not sin enters Paradise.” The Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “The pomegranate is the master of fruits, and he who eats it enrages Satan for forty mornings, and if he eats it, no one is involved with him.” Muhammad Al-Baqir (a.) reported that Imam Zain-ul-Abidin (a.) said: “Whoever eats a pomegranate on Friday with an empty stomach, his heart is enlightened for forty mornings, so that Satan’s whispering is repelled by his heart, and by whose heart Satan’s whispering is repelled, he is not disobedient to God, and whoever is not disobedient to God, He lets him enter Paradise.” Marjanah, the bondswoman of Safiyyah, said: “I saw Ali (a.) eat a pomegranate and pick up what falls from it.” Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “Whoever eats a pomegranate until the end, God will enlighten his heart for forty nights. Adam, the palm and grape and the pomegranate were created from a mass of clay.” Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri reported that the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “Eat the pomegranate, for no grain falls from it except to enlighten the heart and silence the Satan!” The scholar Abu Ja’far At-Tusi said: “Give your children the pomegranate to eat, for it hastens the use of their tongues.” [Makarim-ul-Akhlaq by Abu Nasr At-Tabarsi, pp. 170-171]

عن الحسن بن الفضل عن جعفر الصادق عليه السلام عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال: ما من رمانة إلا وفيها حبة من رمان الجنة، فإذا تبدد منها شئ فخذوه، ما وقعت وما دخلت تلك الحبة معدة امرئ مسلم إلا أنارتها أربعين صباحا وعنه عليه السلام أنه كان يأكل الرمان في كل ليلة جمعة عنه عليه السلام عن أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام قال: كلوا الرمان بشحمه فإنه دباغ المعدة وما من حبة استقرت في معدة امرئ مسلم إلا أنارتها ونفت الشيطان والوسوسة عنها أربعين صباحا وعنه عليه السلام أنه كان إذا أكل الرمان بسط تحته منديلا، فإذا سئل عن ذلك؟ قال: إن فيه حبات من الجنة، فقيل: يا أمير المؤمنين إن اليهود والنصارى وما سوى ذلك يأكلونه، فقال: إذا أرادوا أكلها بعث الله عز وجل ملكا فينتزعها منها، لئلا يأكلوها قال الصادق عليه السلام: خمسة من فاكهة الجنة في الدنيا الرمان الأمليسي والتفاح السفساني يروى أنه الشامي والعنب والسفرجل والرطب المشان وعنه عليه السلام أيضا قال: أيما مؤمن أكل رمانة حتى يستوفيها أذهب الله عز وجل الشيطان عن إثارة قلبه مائة يوم. ومن أكل ثلاثة أذهب الله الشيطان عن إثارة قلبه سنة. ومن أذهب الله عز وجل الشيطان عن إثارة قلبه سنة لم يذنب. ومن لم يذنب دخل الجنة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: الرمان سيد الفاكهة. ومن أكل رمانة أغضب شيطانه أربعين صباحا. وكان إذا أكله لا يشركه فيه أحد عن الصادق، عن أبيه، عن علي بن الحسين عليهم السلام أنه كان يقول: من أكل رمانة يوم الجمعة على الريق نورت قلبه أربعين صباحا، فطرد عنه وسوسة الشيطان ومن طرد عنه وسوسة الشيطان لم يعص الله عز وجل. ومن لم يعص الله أدخله الجنة. عن مرجانة مولاة صفية قالت: رأيت عليا عليه السلام يأكل رمانا فرأيته يلتقط مما يسقط منه. عن أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يقول: من أكل رمانة حتى يستتمها نور الله قلبه أربعين ليلة. وقال النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: خلق آدم والنخلة والعنب والرمانة من طينة واحدة. عن أبي سعيد الخدري، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: كلوا الرمان فليست منه حبة تقع في المعدة إلا أنارت القلب وأخرست الشيطان. من إملاء الشيخ أبي جعفر الطوسي عليه الرحمة: أطعموا صبيانكم الرمان، فإنه أسرع لألسنتهم
