Consumption of meat allowed?

Question:

Are there reports that allow the consumption of the slaughtered meat of the disbelievers?

Answer:

Humran reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “As for the slaughtered of our enemy (Nasibi), the Jew and the Nazarene, do not eat their slaughtered unless you hear him mention the name of God.” I said: “What about the Zoroastrian?” He said: “Yes, if you hear him mention the name of God. Have you not heard the word of the exalted one: “And eat not of that about which the name of God is not mentioned?” (6:121) Muhammad Ibn Muslim reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: “Eat the slaughtered of the idolaters when he mentions the name of God over it while you hear it and do not eat the slaughtered of the Nazarite Arabs.” [Al-Istibsar of At-Tusi, page 720 Hadith 21 – 22]

فأما ما رواه الحسين بن سعيد عن ابن أبي عمير عن عمر بن أذينة عن زرارة عن حمران قال: سمعت أبا جعفر عليه السلام يقول في ذبيحة الناصب واليهودي والنصراني لا تأكل ذبيحته حتى تسمعه يذكر اسم الله قلت المجوسي؟ فقال: نعم إذا سمعته يذكر اسم الله أما سمعت قول الله تعالى ولا تأكلوا مما لم يذكر اسم الله عليه عنه عن فضالة بن أيوب عن القاسم بن يزيد عن محمد بن مسلم عن أبي جعفر عليه السلام قال: كل ذبيحة المشرك إذا ذكر اسم الله عليه وأنت تسمع، ولا تأكل ذبيحة نصارى العرب

Jamil and Muhammad Ibn Humran reported that they asked Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “What about the slaughter of the Jews, Nazarenes and Zorastrians?” He said: “Eat!” Then some of them said: “They do not mention the name of God.” He said: “If you were present at their slaughter and they did not mention the name of God, do not eat.” And he said: “If you were not present, eat!” [Wasa’il-ush-Shi’ah of Al-Hurr Al-Amili, Volume 24 page 62 Hadith 33]

وعنه عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن جميل، ومحمد بن حمران، انهما سألا أبا عبد الله عليه السلام عن ذبايح اليهود والنصارى والمجوس، فقال: كل، فقال بعضهم: انهم لا يسمون، فقال: فان حضرتموهم فلم يسموا فلا تأكلوا، وقال: إذا غاب فكل

Al-Qaddah reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “A woman who belonged to the Jewish faith administered poison to the Prophet Muhammad (s.) through the front leg (of the flesh). The Messenger (s.) liked the front leg and shoulder, but he did not like the pelvis because of its closeness to the place of origin of the urine. When he was brought something roasted of the meat, he ate from the front leg and liked it and he ate what God wanted. Then the front leg said: “O messenger of God, i am poisoned.” So he left it alone and the poison was on him until he died.” Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi writes: “It may be that both poisons (from the Jewess and Aishah) had a part in the martyrdom of the Prophet Muhammad (s.).” [Bihar-ul-Anwar, Volume 22 Page 516 Hadith 22]

بصائر الدرجات: إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن جعفر بن محمد، عن القداح، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: سمت اليهودية النبي في ذراع، قال: وكان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله يحب الذراع والكتف، ويكره الورك لقربها من المبال، قال: لما اتي بالشواء أكل من الذراع وكان يحبها، فأكل ما شاء الله ثم قال الذراع: يا رسول الله إني مسموم فتركه، وما زال ينتقض به سمه حتى مات صلى الله عليه وآله وقال شيخ الإسلام المجلسي رحمه الله: يحتمل أن يكون كلا السمين دخيلين في شهادته صلى الله عليه وآله
