Al-Khumaini about Umar

What was Al-Khumaini’s opinion on Umar Ibn Al-Khattab?
Answer:
Ruhullah Al-Khumaini writes: “When the Prophet Muhammad (s.) was in a state of passing away and dying of sickness, a large crowd gathered at his house and asked them to write something that would never mislead them. Umar Ibn Al-Khattab said: “The Messenger of God is talking nonsense!” The historians and traditionals such as Al-Bukhari, Muslim Ibn Al-Hajjaj and Ahmad Ibn Hanbal conveyed this fact with an inconsistency in the wording. The sum of this statement is that this idle talk was made by Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, who himself spoke nonsense, and it reaches the Muslim with a sense of honour until doomsday. In truth, they knew his value well and he endured the suffering and difficulties to guide and rebuke them and made an effort to do so. The noble believer with a sense of honour recognizes the situation in which this Holy Spirit and pure light passed away after hearing the talk of Umar Ibn Al-Khattab. This spiritually disturbed person, who has grown out of the remains of disbelief and heresy, is an opponent of the noble verses of the Qur’an as in the chapter An-Najm: “He does not speak out of his own desires. It is nothing but a revelation that is given to him. It was taught to him by the possessors of strong powers.” (53:3-5) As well as the verse: “O you who believe! obey God and obey the Messenger and those who are in authority among you.” (4:59) As well as from the verse: “Whatever the messenger gives you, take it.” (59:7) As well as from the verse “Your companion is not insane.” (81:22) And of other verses besides these.” [Kashf-ul-Asrar, pages 125-126]
قال روح الله الخميني: عندما كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم في حال الاحتضار ومرض الموت وقد اجتمع عنده جماعة كثيرة طلب منهم أن يكتب كتابا لن يضلوا بعده أبدا، فقال عمر بن الخطاب هجر رسول الله وقد نقل المؤرخون هذه الواقعة ورواة الحديث كالبخاري ومسلم واحمد مع اختلاف في اللفظ ، وجملة الكلام أن هذا الكلام اللغو صدر من ابن الخطاب الذي يهجر وهو كاف إلى يوم القيامة للمسلم الغيور. والحق أنهم يعرفون قدره جيدا وهو الذي تحمل الأذى والشدائد من أجل هدايتهم وإرشادهم وبذل جهده لذلك والإنسان المؤمن الشريف الغيور يدرك بأي حال مضت هذه الروح المقدسة النور الطاهر بعد سماع ذلك الكلام من ابن الخطاب إن هذا الهذيان الذي ظهر من بقايا الكفر والزندقة مخالف لللآيات الكريمة ففي سورة النجم الآية ٣ وما ينطق عن الهوى إن هو إلا وحي يوحى علمه شديد القوى وآية يا أيها الذين آمنوا أطيعوا الله وأطيعوا الرسول وأولي الأمر منكم وآية وما آتاكم الرسول فخذوه وآية وما صاحبكم بمجنون وغيرها من الآيات
