Al-Mufid declares Abu Bakr and Umar as the inhabitants of hell

Question:
What was the view of Al-Mufid on Abu Bakr, Omar and Uthman?
Answer:
Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Al-Mufid writes:
“The followers of the Imams and many of the Zaidites reached a consensus, that those who preceded (Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman) the Commander of the Faithful (a.) were misguided and wicked, and that by depriving the Commander of the Faithful (a.) of the office of the Prophet Muhammad (s. ), they are transgressors and oppressors, and because of their injustice they are eternally in hell, and the Mu’tazilites, the Kharijites, a group of Zaidites, the Murji’ites and the Hashawites agreed to oppose this and, in their religion, they followed the leadership of the persons and in their religion they followed the leadership of the persons and they made the claim that they did not deny the Commander of the Faithful (a.) any right and that they belonged to the people of goodwill, except for the Kharijites and a group of Zaidites, who exclusively disassociated themselves from Uthman and made the claim that because of his innovations in religion he would dwell eternally in hell, but not because he preceded the Commander of the Faithful (a.). (in leadership)” [Awa’il-ul-Maqalat, page 40 – 41]
