Umm Ayman is in paradise

Question:

What do the infallible (a.) say about the companion Umm Ayman?

Answer:

Fatimah (a.) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “Umm Ayman is a woman among the people of Paradise.” [Al-Ihtijaj of Abu Mansur At-Tabarsi, Volume 1 Page 121]

عن أحمد بن علي عن حماد بن عثمان عن جعفر الصادق عليه السلام عن فاطمة عليها السلام عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: أم أيمن امرأة من أهل الجنة

Sulaim Ibn Qais reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “The matter of closeness (Wilayah) is a harder test than silver and gold. This thing that Allah has made you know and what He has blessed you with is a harsher test than silver and gold, and it is the least of the people in the community who know it! Umm Ayman died and belongs to the inhabitants of Paradise, but she did not recognize what God made you recognize! Praise Allah and accept with thanks what He granted you and what He distinguished you with. Know that God grants this world to both the pious and the wicked, but this thing to which you belong He grants only to the special people among His creatures. With the exception of three, none of the creatures can recognize our matter: A near angel, or a sent prophet, or a servant whose heart is tested by God for faith! O Sulaim, the foundation of this matter is piety, for no one comes near us (Wilayah) except through piety.” [Kitab Sulaim, page 354]

عن أبان عن سليم عن علي الصديق عليه السلام قال: أمر الولاية أشد خبرية من الذهب والفضة إن هذا الأمر الذي عرفكم الله ومن به عليكم أشد خبرية من الذهب والفضة، وأقل الأمة الذين يعرفونه، ولقد ماتت أم أيمن وإنها لمن أهل الجنة وما كانت تعرف ما عرفك الله فاحمد الله وخذ ما أعطاك الله وخصك به بشكر واعلم أن الله تعالى يعطي الدنيا البر والفاجر، وإن هذا الأمر الذي أنت فيه إنما يعطيه الله صفوته من خلقه. إن أمرنا لا يعرفه إلا ثلاثة من الخلق: ملك مقرب أو نبي مرسل أو عبد امتحن الله قلبه للإيمان. يا سليم، إن ملاك هذا الأمر الورع لأنه لا ينال ولايتنا إلا بالورع

Ali Ibn Ja’far (a.) reported that he asked Imam Al-Kazim (a.): “Did the Prophet (s.) ever say anything against God or speak out of his own desires or prescribe anything?” He said: “No.” I said: “What do you think about his statement about Ali (a.): “To whom i am the closest, this one is the closest?” Did God tell him to do that?” He said: “Yes.” I said: “Do i then renounce with Allah the one who denies it since the day the Messenger was commanded?” He said: “Yes.” I said: “Are people saved in the time till they realize it?” He said: “No, except those of the men and women and children who are deemed weak and unable to find a way out or a right path.” (4:98) I said: “Who are they?” He said: “Have you looked at your servants and women who do not recognize it? Would you then kill your servants when they are your neighbors?” He said: “But if it is made obvious to anyone and he denies it, then May Allah destroy and annihilate! There is no good in him.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 10, Page 267]

حدثنا علي بن الحسن بن علي بن عمر بن علي بن الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب عليهم السلام عن علي بن جعفر بن محمد، عن أخيه موسى بن جعفر عليه السلام قال: وسألته عن نبي الله هل كان يقول على الله شيئا قط، أو ينطق عن هوى، أو يتكلف؟ فقال لا فقلت أرأيتك قوله لعلي عليه السلام: من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه، الله أمره به؟ قال: نعم، قلت: فأبرء إلى الله ممن أنكر ذلك منذ يوم أمر به رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله؟ قال: نعم، قلت: هل يسلم الناس حتى يعرفوا ذلك؟ قال: لا، إلا المستضعفين من الرجال والنساء والولدان الذين لا يستطيعون حيلة ولا يهتدون سبيلا. قلت: من هو؟ قال: أرأيتم خدمكم ونساءكم ممن لا يعرف ذلك أتقتلون خدمكم وهم مقرون لكم؟ وقال: من عرض عليه ذلك فأنكره فأبعده الله وأسحقه لا خير فيه

Isma’il Al-Ju’fi reported that he asked Imam Al-Baqir (a.): “What is it about the religion that does not give room to the ignorance of the servants?” He said: “Religion offers room, but those who exited (Khawarij) they restrict themselves out of their ignorance.” I said: “May my life be sacrificed to you. Shall i tell you about my religion, which i represent?” He said: “Yes.” I said: “I testify that no one is worthy of worship except God, and i testify that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, and i confirm what he proclaimed from Allah, and i approach you and distance myself from your enemies who went to your necks and conspired against you and suppressed your right.” He said: “You were not ignorant of anything! By God, it is exactly what we represent!” I said: “Is there any man that can be saved who does not know this thing?” He said: No, except those who are considered weak.” I said: “Who are they?” He said: “Your wives and children.” Then he said: “Did you consider Umm Ayman? I testify that she is one of the inhabitants of paradise, not realizing what you represent.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 2 Page 405 Hadith 6]

الحسين بن محمد، عن معلى بن محمد، عن الوشاء، عن مثنى، عن إسماعيل الجعفي قال: سألت أبا جعفر عليه السلام عن الدين الذي لا يسع العباد جهله، فقال: الدين واسع ولكن الخوارج ضيقوا على أنفسهم من جهلهم، قلت: جعلت فداك فأحدثك بديني الذي أنا عليه؟ فقال: بلى، فقلت: أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله والاقرار بما جاء من عند الله وأتولاكم وأبرء من عدوكم ومن ركب رقابكم وتأمر عليكم وظلمكم حقكم، فقال: ما جهلت شيئا! هو والله الذي نحن عليه، قلت: فهل سلم أحد لا يعرف هذا الامر؟ فقال: لا إلا المستضعفين، قلت من هم؟ قال: نساؤكم وأولادكم ثم قال: أرأيت أم أيمن؟ فإني أشهد أنها من أهل الجنة وما كانت تعرف ما أنتم عليه
