Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported that the angel Gabriel (a.) said: “O Muhammad, your Lord sends you His peace greeting and He said: “I have forbidden the fire for the loins that begat you and i have forbidden it for the womb that carried you and i have forbidden it for the man who guarded you. As for the loins that begat you, it is your father, Abdullah Ibn Abd Al-Muttalib (a.) and as for the womb that carried you, it is Aminah Bint Wahb (a.) and as for the man who guarded you, it is Abu Talib (a.)”. [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1 Page 446 Hadith 21]

أحمد بن إدريس، عن الحسين بن عبيد الله، عن أبي عبد الله الحسين الصغير عن محمد بن إبراهيم الجعفري، عن أحمد بن علي بن محمد بن عبد الله بن عمر بن علي بن أبي طالب، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام. ومحمد بن يحيى، عن سعد بن عبد الله، عن يعقوب بن يزيد، عن ابن فضال، عن بعض رجاله، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام عن جبرائيل عليه السلام قال: يا محمد إن ربك يقرئك السلام ويقول: إني قد حرمت النار على صلب أنزلك وبطن حملك وحجر كفلك، فالصلب صلب أبيك عبد الله بن عبد المطلب والبطن الذي حملك فآمنة بنت وهب وأما حجر كفلك فحجر أبي طالب

Al-Abbas reported that he asked the Prophet Muhammad (s.): “What do you expect for Abu Talib (a.)? He said: “I expect from my Lord all the good things for him.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 35 Page 109 – 110 Hadith 38]

وأخبرني الشيخ شاذان بن جبرئيل، عن عبد الله بن عمر الطرابلسي، عن القاضي عبد العزيز، عن محمد بن علي بن عثمان الكراجكي، عن الحسن بن محمد بن علي، عن منصور بن جعفر بن ملاعب، عن محمد بن داود بن جندل، عن علي بن الحرب، عن زيد بن الحباب، عن حماد بن سلمة، عن ثابت، عن إسحاق بن عبد الله، عن العباس بن عبد المطلب أنه سأل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله فقال: ما ترجو لأبي طالب؟ فقال كل خير أرجو من ربي عز وجل

Abdullah Ibn Abbas reported that Al-Abbas Ibn Abd Al-Muttalib said: “When Abu Talib (a.) died, he testified that no one is worthy of worship except God and that Muhammad (s.) is the Messenger of God.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 35 Page 113 Hadith 46]

وأخبرني محمد بن إدريس بإسناده إلى أبي جعفر الطوسي، عن رجاله، عن الثمالي، عن عكرمة، عن ابن عباس قال: أخبرني العباس بن عبد المطلب أن أبا طالب شهد عند الموت أن لا إله إلا الله وأن محمدا رسول الله

Al-Husain (a.) reported that a man spoke to Imam Ali (a.): “O Commander of the Believers, God lowered your rank and your father Abu Talib awaits punishment in hellfire!” He said: “Silence, May God seal your mouth! I swear by Him Who sent Muhammad (s.) with the truth as a prophet, if my Father interceded for all sinners on the face of the earth, God would grant them His intercession! How should my Father be punished in hellfire and his Son be the divider between Paradise and fire? By Him Who sent Muhammad (s.) with the Truth, the Light of My Father will shine brighter than the Light of all creatures except five: The Light of Muhammad (s.), the Light of Fatimah (a.), the Light of Al-Hasan (a.), the Light of Al-Husain (a.) and the Light of his descendants the Imams (a.). The light of Abu Talib (a.) is of our light. God created it a thousand years before He created Adam (a.).” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 35 Page 110 Hadith 39]

وبالاسناد عن الكراجكي، عن محمد بن أحمد بن علي، عن محمد بن عثمان بن عبد الله، عن جعفر بن محمد، عن عبيد الله بن أحمد، عن محمد بن زياد، عن مفضل بن عمر، عن جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن علي بن الحسين، عن أبيه، عن أمير المؤمنين عليهم السلام أنه كان جالسا في الرحبة والناس حوله، فقام إليه رجل فقال: يا أمير المؤمنين إنك بالمكان الذي أنزلك الله وأبوك معذب في النار، فقال: مه فض الله فاك، والذي بعث محمدا بالحق نبيا لو شفع أبي في كل مذنب على وجه الأرض لشفعه الله فيهم، أبي معذب في النار وابنه قسيم الجنة والنار؟! والذي بعث محمدا بالحق إن نور أبي طالب ليطفئ أنوار الخلائق إلا خمسة أنوار: نور محمد ونور فاطمة ونور الحسن ونور الحسين ونور ولده من الأئمة، ألا إن نوره من نورنا، خلقه الله من قبل خلق آدم بألفي عام

Ash-Sha’bi reported that Imam Ali (s.) said: “By God, Abu Talib (a.) was a devout Muslim.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 35 Page 114 Hadith 51]

 وبالاسناد عن أبي علي الموضح، عن محمد بن الحسن العلوي، عن عبد العزيز بن يحيى، عن أحمد بن محمد العطار، عن حفص بن عمر بن الحارث، عن عمر بن أبي زائدة، عن عبد الله ابن أبي الصيفي، عن الشعبي يرفعه عن أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام قال: كان والله أبو طالب عبد مناف بن عبد المطلب مؤمنا مسلما

Hammad Ibn Uthman reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Abu Talib (a.) did not die until he granted contentment to the Prophet Muhammad (s.) of himself.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 35, Page 113 Hadith 47]

وبالاسناد عن أبي جعفر، عن رجاله، عن حماد بن عثمان، عن أبي عبد الله جعفر بن محمد عليهما السلام قال: ما مات أبو طالب حتى أعطى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله من نفسه الرضى

Muhammad Ibn Abdillah reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Abu Talib (a.) converted to Islam through sentences?” He said: “He did it with every tongue!” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1 Page 449 Hadith 32]

علي بن محمد بن عبد الله، ومحمد بن يحيى، عن محمد بن عبد الله رفعه، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام، قال: إن أبا طالب أسلم بحساب الجمل؟ قال: بكل لسان

Hisham Ibn Salim reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “The parable of Abu Talib (a.) is the parable of the companions of the cave, who testified to the faith in secret and were regarded from outside as idolaters. Thus God gives them their reward twofold.” Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi writes: “Good (Hasan).” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, volume 1 page 448 Hadith 28; Mir’at-ul-Uqul of Al-Majlisi, volume 5 page 253]

Yunus reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) told him: “O Yunus, what do people say about Abu Talib (a.)?” I said: “May i be sacrificed for you, they say that he is in the lowest fire of hell and wears shoes of fire from which his brain is boiling.” He said: “The enemies of God have invented lies! Abu Talib (a.) is one of the Companions: “Of the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous What excellent companions they are!” (4:69) [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, volume 35 page 111 Hadith 42]

  وبالاسناد إلى الكراجكي عن رجاله، عن أبان، عن محمد بن يونس، عن أبيه، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام أنه قال: يا يونس ما يقول الناس في أبي طالب؟ قلت: جعلت فداك يقولون هو في ضحضاح من نار، وفي رجليه نعلان من نار تغلي منهما أم رأسه، فقال: كذب أعداء الله، إن أبا طالب من رفقاء النبيين والصديقين والشهداء الصالحين وحسن أولئك رفيقا

Ishaq Ibn Ja’far reported that someone said to Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “People claim that Abu Talib was an infidel.” He said: “They have fabricated lies! How could he be an unbeliever when he said: “Do they not know that in Muhammad we found a prophet like Moses, written in the first of the books?” He said: “How should Abu Talib (a.) be an unbeliever when he said: “They already know that our son was never considered a liar to us, and falsehood deserves no attention. The white face that prays supplications until rain breaks out from the clouds of the sky. Helper of the orphans and shelter of the widows.” Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi writes: “Authentic (Sahih).” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, volume 1 page 448 – 449 Hadith 29; Mir’at-ul-Uqul of Al-Majlisi, volume 5 page 253]

الحسين بن محمد ومحمد بن يحيى، عن أحمد بن إسحاق، عن بكر بن محمد الأزدي، عن إسحاق بن جعفر، عن أبيه عليه السلام قال: قيل له: إنهم يزعمون أن أبا طالب كان كافرا؟ فقال: كذبوا كيف يكون كافرا وهو يقول: ألم تعلموا أنا وجدنا محمدا نبيا كموسى خط في أول الكتب وفي حديث آخر كيف يكون أبو طالب كافرا وهو يقول: لقد علموا أن ابننا لا مكذب * لدينا ولا يعبأ بقيل الا باطل وأبيض يستسقى الغمام بوجهه * ثمال اليتامى عصمة للأرامل. قال المجلسي رضي الله عنه: صحيح

Laith Al-Muradi reported that he said to Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “My Lord, people say that Abu Talib (a.) is in the lowest fire of hell, which boils his brain.” He said: “They have invented lies! By Allah, if one were to put the faith of Abu Talib (a.) in one scale and the faith of these creatures in the other, then the faith of Abu Talib (a.) would outweigh their faith. By God, Ali (a.) used to order the pilgrimage because of the father of the Prophet, his mother and Abu Talib (a.) in his life and he passed the legacy on to him through the pilgrimage for them after his death.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 35 Page 112 Hadith 44]

  وأخبرني الشيخ محمد بن إدريس، عن أبي الحسن العريضي، عن الحسين بن طحان، عن أبي علي، عن محمد بن الحسن بن علي الطوسي، عن رجاله، عن ليث المرادي قال: قلت لأبي عبد الله عليه السلام: سيدي إن الناس يقولون: إن أبا طالب في ضحضاح من نار يغلي منه دماغه، قال عليه السلام: كذبوا والله إن إيمان أبي طالب لو وضع في كفة ميزان وإيمان هذا الخلق في كفة ميزان لرجح إيمان أبي طالب على إيمانهم ثم قال عليه السلام: كان والله أمير المؤمنين يأمر أن يحج عن أب النبي وأمة وعن أبي طالب في حياته، ولقد أوصى في وصيته بالحج عنهم بعد مماته

Ahmad Ibn Ali reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “God existed when nothing else existed. So He created the existence and the place and He created the light of the lights from His light that made all lights shine and it is the light from which He created Muhammad and Ali (a.). So they remained the first two lights as nothing existed before them. They passed on pure and spotless into the pure loins until their ways were divided into two pure and spotless people and these were Abdullah and Abu Talib (a.).” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1 Page 441 – 442 Hadith 9]

أحمد بن إدريس، عن الحسين بن عبد الله الصغير، عن محمد بن إبراهيم الجعفري، عن أحمد بن علي بن محمد بن عبد الله بن عمر بن علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: إن الله كان إذ لا كان فخلق الكان والمكان وخلق نور الأنوار الذي نورت منه الأنوار وأجرى فيه من نوره الذي نورت منه الأنوار وهو النور الذي خلق منه محمدا وعليا. فلم يزالا نورين أولين، إذ لا شئ كون قبلهما، فلم يزالا يجريان طاهرين مطهرين في الأصلاب الطاهرة، حتى افترقا في أطهر طاهرين في عبد الله وأبي طالب عليهم السلام

Durust Ibn Abi Mansur reported that he asked Imam Al-Kazim (a.): “Was the Prophet Muhammad (s.) under the leadership of a proof of God because of Abu Talib (a.)?” He said: “No, but Abu Talib (a.) was given the authority, which he passed on to the Messenger (s.).” I said: “Did he therefore give him the authority because he was under the leadership of a proof of God?” He said: “If the Prophet (s.) had been under the leadership of a proof of God because of Abu Talib (a.), then Abu Talib (a.) would not have given him the authority.” I said: “In what condition was Abu Talib (a.)?” He said: “He believed and confirmed the Prophet (s.) and that with which he was sent by God, and he passed the authority on to him and died the same day.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1 Page 445 Hadith 18]

محمد بن يحيى، عن سعد بن عبد الله، عن جماعة من أصحابنا، عن أحمد بن هلال، عن أمية بن علي القيسي قال: حدثني درست بن أبي منصور أنه سأل أبا الحسن الأول عليه السلام أكان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله محجوجا بأبي طالب؟ فقال: لا ولكنه كان مستودعا للوصايا فدفعها إليه صلى الله عليه وآله، قال: قلت: فدفع إليه الوصايا على أنه محجوج به؟ فقال لو كان محجوجا به ما دفع إليه الوصية، قال: فقلت: فما كان حال أبي طالب؟ قال أقر بالنبي وبما جاء به ودفع إليه الوصايا ومات من يومه

Aban Ibn Muhammad reported that he wrote Imam Ar-Rida (a.): “May i be sacrificed for you, i was in doubt about the faith of Abu Talib (a.).” He replied: “In the name of the merciful and compassionate God: “Whoever follows a path other than that of the faithful, We make him pursue what he has pursued.” (4:115) If you do not confirm the faith of Abu Talib (a.), your end will be in hellfire.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 35 Page 110 Hadith 40]

 وبالاسناد عن الكراجكي، عن الحسين بن عبيد الله بن علي، عن هارون بن موسى، عن علي بن همام، عن علي بن محمد القمي، عن منجح الخادم، عن أبان بن محمد قال كتبت إلى الإمام علي بن موسى عليه السلام: جعلت فداك إني شككت في إيمان أبي طالب قال: فكتب بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ومن يبتغ غير سبيل المؤمنين نوله ما تولى أما إنك إن لم تقر بإيمان أبي طالب كان مصيرك إلى النار

Abd-ul-Azim Ibn Abdillah Al-Alawi reported that he wrote to Imam Ar-Rida (a.): “O son of the Messenger of God, grant me knowledge because of the transmitted reports that Abu Talib (a.) is in the lowest fire of hell, which makes his brain boil.” He replied: “In the name of the merciful and compassionate God. If you are in doubt that Abu Talib (a.) was a believer, your end will be in hellfire.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 35 Page 110 – 111 Hadith 42]

 وأخبرني عبد الحميد بن عبد الله، عن عمر بن الحسين بن عبد الله بن محمد، عن محمد ابن علي بن بابويه بإسناد له أن عبد العظيم بن عبد الله العلوي كان مريضا، فكتب إلى أبي الحسن الرضا عليه السلام: عرفني يا ابن رسول الله عن الخبر المروي أن أبا طالب في ضحضاح من نار يغلي منه دماغه، فكتب إليه الرضا عليه السلام: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم أما بعد فإنك إن شككت في إيمان أبي طالب كان مصيرك إلى النار
