Umar penetrates camels

Abd-ur-Rahman Ibn Ali reported that Salim Ibn Abdillah said:“Umar Ibnu l-Khattab used to stick his hand into the butt (Dubur) of a camel and say: “I am afraid that people will ask me what is with you.” Ar-Rashidi writes: “Its chain of transmission and transmitters are trustworthy (Thiqat).” [Manaqib Amiri l-Mu’minin of Ibn-ul-Jawzi, page 95]

عن عبد الرحمان بن علي عن سالم بن عبد الله أن عمر بن الخطاب رضوان الله عليه كان يدخل يده في دبر البعير ويقول: إني خائف أن أسأل عما بك قال المحقق حلمي بن إسماعيل الرشيدي: إسناده ورجاله ثقات

Ali Ibn Abdi l-Malik reported that Salim Ibn Abdillah said: “Umar Ibnu l-Khattab used to stick his hand into the butt (Dubur) of a camel and say: “I am afraid that people will ask me what is with you.” [Kanz-ul-Ummal of Al-Muttaqi Al-Hindi, Hadith 25630]

عن علي بن عبد الملك الهندي عن سالم بن عبد الله أن عمر بن الخطاب كان يدخل يده في دبر البعير ويقول: إني خائف أن أسأل عما بك

Yahya Ibn Sa’id reported that Salim Ibn Abdillah said: “Umar Ibnu l-Khattab used to stick his hand into the butt (Dubur) of a camel and say: “I am afraid that people will ask me what is with you.” [Tarikh Madinat Dimashq by Ibn Asakir, Volume 44 page 356]

Comment:

While at the time of Ibn Asakir, Ibn-ul-Jawzi and Al-Hindi the word “Dubur” (butt) was used, the innovators later made some falsifications. For example, they added a “Ta’ Marbutah” (دبرة) to the word and then claimed that Umar had put his hand into a wound (Dabarah) and not into the anus (Dubur), which is of course nonsensical.
