Prophet serves meat of idols

Salim ibn Abdillah reported that Abdullah ibn Umar said:“The Messenger of God (s) met Zaid ibn Amr ibn Nufail near Baldah before the revelation was sent down to him. The Messenger (s.) offered him a bowl of meat, but he refused to eat from it and thereupon said: ‘Neither do I eat what you have offered to your idols, nor do I eat from anything except when the name of God has been pronounced over it.” [Sahih-ul-Bukhari, Hadith 5180]

حدثنا معلى بن أسد حدثنا عبد العزيز يعني ابن المختار أخبرنا موسى بن عقبة قال أخبرني سالم أنه سمع عبد الله يحدث عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه لقي زيد بن عمرو بن نفيل بأسفل بلدح وذاك قبل أن ينزل على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم الوحي فقدم إليه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم سفرة فيها لحم فأبى أن يأكل منها ثم قال إني لا آكل مما تذبحون على أنصابكم ولا آكل إلا مما ذكر اسم الله عليه

Hisham ibn Sa’id reported that Sa’id ibn Zaid said: “The Messenger of God (s.) was in Mecca while Zaid ibn Harithah was with him. Thereupon Zaid ibn Amr ibn Nufail came by them and the two invited him to a meal, but he said: “O son of my brother, I do not eat that which has been sacrificed for idols.” After that, the Messenger (s.) was never seen eating the meat sacrificed to idols again.” [Al-Musnad by Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, Hadith 1651]

حدثنا يزيد حدثنا المسعودي عن نفيل بن هشام بن سعيد بن زيد بن عمرو بن نفيل عن أبيه عن جده قال كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بمكة هو وزيد بن حارثة فمر بهما زيد بن عمرو بن نفيل فدعواه إلى سفرة لهما فقال يا ابن أخي إني لا آكل مما ذبح على النصب قال فما رئي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بعد ذلك أكل شيئا مما ذبح على النصب

Fakhr-ud-Din Ar-Razi writes: “Know that some people hold the view that the Prophet (s.) was initially a disbeliever. Afterwards, he was rightly guided by God and appointed as a Prophet.” [At-Tafsir-ul-Kabir / Mafatih-ul-Ghaib, Volume 31 page 216]

قال فخر الدين الرازي: فاعلم أن بعض الناس ذهب إلى أنه كان كافرا في أول الأمر ثم هداه الله وجعله نبيا
