The exaggerators

The Messenger of God (s.) said to Imam Ali (a.): “O Ali your parable in my nation is like the parable of Jesus, the son of Mary. His people split into 3 groups, One group of believers and these are the disciples, and one group that hated him these are the Jews and one group that exaggerates in it, these have left the religion and my nation split over you into 3 groups, one group are your followers and these are the believers and one group are of your enemies and these are the doubters and one group that exaggerate about you and these are the deniers. And you and your followers, the lovers of your followers are in Paradise and your enemies and the exaggerators are in the Fire.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar by Al-Majlisi, volume 25, page, 265]

 كتاب المناقب لمحمد بن أحمد بن شاذان باسناده إلى الصادق عن آبائه عن علي عليهم السلام قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله. يا علي مثلك في أمتي مثل المسيح عيسى بن  مريم افترق قومه ثلاث فرق: فرقه مؤمنون وهم الحواريون، وفرقه عادوه وهم اليهود وفرقة غلوا فيه فخرجوا عن الايمان، وإن أمتي ستفترق فيك ثلاث فرق: ففرقة  شيعتك وهم المؤمنون وفرقة عدوك وهم الشاكون، وفرقة تغلو فيك وهم الجاحدون وأنت في الجنة يا علي وشيعتك ومحب شيعتك وعدوك والغالي في النار

The commander of the Faithful (a.) said: “I distance myself from the exaggerators, just as Jesus the son of Mary distanced himself from the exaggerators. O Allah (swt.) let them fail forever and do not stand by any of them.” [Al-Amali by At-Tusi, page 500]

الإمام علي عليه السلام: اللهم إني برئ من الغلاة كبراءة عيسى بن مريم من النصارى، اللهم اخذلهم أبدا ولا تنصر منهم أحدا

Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Beware of the exaggerators so that they do not corrupt you, because the exaggerators are the worst creatures of God, they belittle the glory of God and claim godhood upon the servants of God. By God, the exaggerators are worse than the Jews, the Christians, the Zoroastrians and those who practice polytheism. Then he (a.s.) said: “To us returns the exaggerator, so we do not accept him, and to us follows the underminer (muqasir), so we accept him.” So it was said to him: “How so? O son of the Messenger of God.” He (a.s.) said: Because the exaggerator made a habit of omitting prayer, fasting, almsgiving and pilgrimage, and so he can never leave off his omission and return to God (swt.) obediently. However, the underminer, when he acquires knowledge, then he acts and obeys.” [Al-Amali by At-Tusi, page 500]

قال الصادق عليه السلام: احذروا على شبابكم الغلاة لا يفسدوهم فان الغلاة شر خلق الله، يصغرون عظمة الله ويدعون الربوبية لعباد الله، والله إن الغلاة لشر  من اليهود والنصارى والمجوس والذين أشركوا، ثم قال عليه السلام: إلينا يرجع الغالي فلا نقبله، وبنا يلحق المقصر فنقبله، فقيل له: كيف ذلك يا ابن رسول الله؟ قال: الغالي قد اعتاد ترك الصلاة والزكاة والصيام والحج فلا يقدر على ترك عادته وعلى الرجوع إلى طاعة الله عز وجل أبدا، وإن المقصر إذا عرف عمل وأطاع

Sadir Ibn Hakim reported that he said to Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “There are people, they claim about you that you are gods and they read us this Quran verse: {It is He who is God in heaven and is God on earth (43:84)}.” He said: “O Sadir, my hearing, my sight, my skin, my flesh, my blood; renounces these people and God (a.w.j.) renounces them. These people are not on my religion nor on the religion of my fathers. By God, God will not gather me with them on the Day of Resurrection except that He is angry with them.” I then said: “And we have people claiming about you that you are messengers and they read this Quranic verse to us: {O you messengers, eat of the good things and act righteously, for I know about what you do. (23:51)}.” He said: “O Sadir, my hearing, my sight, my skin, my flesh, my blood; renounces these people and God and His Messenger (s.) renounces them. These people are not on my religion nor on the religion of my fathers. By God, God will not gather me with them on the Day of Resurrection except that He is angry with them.” I said: “What are you then?” He said: “We are the keepers of the knowledge of God, we are the translators of the command God, we are people who are infallible. God commanded obedience to us and forbade disobedience to us. We are the convincing proof over under the sky and over the earth.” [Al-Kafi by Al-Kulaini, volume 1, page 195]

 محمد بن يحيى، عن أحمد بن محمد، عن البرقي، عن أبي طالب، عن سدير قال: قلت لأبي عبد الله عليه السلام: إن قوما يزعمون أنكم آلهة، يتلون بذلك علينا قرآنا: “ وهو الذي في السماء إله وفي الأرض إله  “ فقال: يا سدير سمعي وبصري وبشري ولحمي ودمي وشعري من هؤلاء براء وبرئ الله منهم، ما هؤلاء على ديني ولا على دين آبائي والله لا يجمعني الله وإياهم يوم القيامة إلا وهو ساخط عليهم، قال: قلت: وعندنا قوم يزعمون أنكم رسل يقرؤون علينا بذلك قرآنا “ يا أيها الرسل كلوا من الطيبات واعملوا صالحا إني بما تعملون عليم  “ فقال: يا سدير سمعي وبصري وشعري وبشري ولحمي ودمي من هؤلاء براء وبرئ الله منهم ورسوله، ما هؤلاء على ديني ولا على دين آبائي والله لا يجمعني الله وإياهم يوم القيامة الا وهو ساخط عليهم، قال: قلت: فما أنتم؟ قال نحن خزان علم الله، نحن تراجمة أمر الله ، نحن قوم معصومون، أمر الله تبارك وتعالى بطاعتنا ونهى عن معصيتنا، نحن الحجة البالغة على من دون السماء و فوق الأرض
