The virtues of Salman

Salman is from us the people of the house

From Harith Al-Auwar who said: “I heard the Commander of the Believers say: “The Messenger of God (s.) said: “Salman is from us the people of the House. He attained the knowledge of the first and the knowledge of the last and he is like the wise Luqman for you.” [Al-Hidayat-ul-Kubra by Al-Khusaibi, page 541-542]

Salman is better than Luqman

The Messenger of God (s.) said: “And Salman is better than Luqman.” [Nafs-ur-Rahman Fi Fada’il Salman by An-Nuri At-Tabarsi, page 374]

رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: وسلمان خير من لقمان

The enlightened one of this nation is Salman

Jabir ibn Abdillah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “Every nation has an enlightened one and the enlightened one of this nation is Salman.” So they said to him: “O Messenger of God. what is meant by an enlightened one?” Then he said: “He tells us about what is hidden from the people. Of that which they need.” One said to him: “How so, O Messenger of God?” He said: “Because he is knowledgeable about my knowledge of me, what is in his heart. Of the knowledge of what was and what will be.” [Al-Hidayat-ul-Kubra by Al-Khusaibi, page 544-545]

Salman is an inexhaustible ocean

Mufaddal Ibn Umar reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Salman is an inexhaustible ocean. He has been given the knowledge of the first and the last and he is nothing compared to the knowledge of Muhammad (s.) and the Commander of the Believers (a.) except in the position of an ocean that gets seven more oceans in addition after him.” Mufaddal Ibn Umar said: “And a questioner asked him (a.) about the knowledge of Muhammad (s.a.w.s.) and Ali (a.s.), whereupon he read: {And if all the trees on earth were pen tubes, and the sea was already made empty once, and seven more oceans were added to it, the words of God would not come to an end.} (31:27) “And they are the words of Muhammad (s.) and Ali (a.), for the two of them are the tongue of God, speaking with His permission.” [Al-Hidayat-ul-Kubra by Al-Khusaibi, page 542]

Salman is the door to the commander of the believers

Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported that Prophet Muhammad (s..) said: “And he [Salman] is the door to the Commander of the believers (a.) and Ali is the door to me and I am the city of knowledge, so recognize Salman.” He (a.) said: “So the wives of the Messenger of God (s.) and Fatimah (a.), the mistress of the wives of the forests, addressed Salman in the way a child addresses its father.” [Al-Hidayat-ul-Kubra by Al-Khusaibi, page 543]
