Zain-ud-Din Al-Amili on the punishment for same-sex intercourse among men
Question:
Who imposes the punishments on the men, who have intercourse with each other, according to the Shi’a scholar Zain-ud-Din Al-Amili, known as Ash-Shahid Ath-Thani?
Response:
Zain-ud-Din Ibn Ali Al-Amili writes:
,,The Companions hold the position, that the boundary punishment (Hadd) for that person, who has intercourse with others of the same sex, is the execution, not elsewise and the decision, on the manner of their execution is made by the Imam (a.). If he wants, he strikes them down with the sword and if he wants, he throws them down from a high place and if he wants, he burns them with fire and if he wants, he stones them.” [Masalik-ul-Afham, Volume 14 page 405]
