Feast day mourning of the prophet

Fakhr-ud-Din Ibn Muhammad reported that some pious trustworthy people said: „Hasan (a.) and Husain (a.) entered the chamber of their grandfather, the Messenger of God (s.) on a feast day. So the two of them said to him: ﴾Grandfather, today is the feast day (Eid) and the children of the Arabs have dressed themselves up with colored garments and put on new garments. We have no new garment and have come to you so that we may receive our feast gift from you and we desire nothing except garments to put on.﴿ Then God’s Messenger (s.) pondered and wept. He had no garments in the house that suited them and did not want to refuse them, thereby grieving them. So he turned to God, presented the case to Him and said: ﴾My God, comfort their heart and the heart of their mother.﴿ Then Gabriel (a.) came down from heaven at that time, while he had with him two bright garments from the garments of Paradise. So the Prophet (s.) rejoiced at this and said to the two: ﴾O masters of the youth of the people of Paradise, here are your garments. The sewer of power sewed them for you in the measure of your size. Sewed they came to you from the Unseen World.﴿ When the two of them saw the bright garments of honor, they said: ﴾O Messenger of God, how so when all the children of the Arabs wear all kinds of garments?﴿ Then the Prophet (s.) was silent for a while with his head bowed as he pondered the case of the two of them. So Gabriel (a.) said: ﴾O Muhammad, be unconcerned and of good cheer. The dyer of God’s color fulfill this matter for them and gladden their hearts with whatever color they both desire. So, O Muhammad, have a bowl and jug brought.﴿ So he brought it, whereupon Gabriel (a.) said: ﴾O Messenger of God, I pour water on these honorary garments while you rub them with your hand. Thus you dye them with whatever color they desire.﴿ Then the Prophet (s.) put the garment of Hasan (a.) in the bowl, whereupon Gabriel (a.) began to pour water. Then the Prophet (s.) came to Hasan (a.) and said, ﴾My eyebright, what color do you desire for your garment?﴿ So he said, ﴾I desire it to be greenish.﴿ Then the Prophet (s.) rubbed it in his hand in that water. Thus, with God’s power, it took on a intensively greenish color like a greenish gemstone. Then the Prophet (s) took it out and gave it to Hasan (a.), after which he put it on. Then he put the garment of Husain (a.) in the bowl and Gabriel (a.) started pouring water. So the Prophet (s.) turned to Husain (a.), who was five years old and said to him: ﴾My eyebright, what color do you wish your garment to be?﴿ Then Husain (a.) said: ﴾Grandfather, I wish it to be reddish.﴿ So the Prophet (s.) rubbed it with his hand in that water. Then it got a reddish color like a reddish ruby, whereupon Husain (a.) put it on. So the Prophet (s) rejoiced over it and Hasan and Husain (a.) went to their mother (a.) while they were cheerful and happy. Then Gabriel (a.) wept when he saw that situation. So the Prophet (s.) said: ﴾My brother Gabriel, on such a day when my two sons were rejoicing, you weep and are sad? I beseech you by God to tell me why you became sad.﴿ Then Gabriel (a.) said: ﴾Know, O Messenger of God, that the choice of your two sons corresponds to different colors. So it is inevitable for Hasan (a.) that they will instill poison in him and the color of his body will turn greenish due to the strength of the poison and for Husain (a.) it is inevitable that they will kill him and slaughter him and his body will be colored by his blood.﴿ Then the Prophet (s.) wept and his grief increased on this occasion.“ [Madinat-ul-Ma’ajiz of Al-Bahrani, Volume 3, Pages 519 – 522, Hadith 1035]

فخر الدين بن محمد عن بعض الثقاة الأخيار أنهم قالوا: إن الحسن والحسين عليهما السلام دخلا يوم عيد على حجرة جدهما رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله فقالا له: يا جداه اليوم يوم العيد وقد تزين أولاد العرب بألوان اللباس ولبسوا جديد الثياب وليس لنا ثوب جديد وقد توجهنا لجنابك لنأخذ عيديتنا منك ولا نريد سوى ثياب نلبسها فتأمل النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وبكى ولم يكن عنده في البيت ثياب تليق بهما ولا رأى أن يمنعهما فيكسر خاطرهما فتوجه إلى الأحدية وعرض الحال على الحضرة الصمدية وقال: إلهي أجبر قلبهما وقلب أمهما فنزل جبرائيل من السماء في تلك الحال ومعه حلتان بيضاوتان من حلل الجنة فسر النبي صلى الله عليه وآله بذلك وقال لهما: يا سيدي شباب أهل الجنة، هاكما أثوابكما خاطهما لكما خياط القدرة على قدر طولكما أتتكما مخيطة من عالم الغيب. فلما رأيا الخلع بيضاء قالا: يا رسول الله كيف هذا وجميع صبيان العرب لابسين أنواع الثياب فاطرق النبي صلى الله عليه وآله ساعة مفكرا في أمرهما فقال جبرائيل: يا محمد طب نفسا وقر عينا، إن صابغ صبغة الله عز وجل يقضي لهما هذا الأمر ويفرح قلوبهما باي لون شاءا فأْمُرْ يا محمد بِاحضار الطِّشت والإبريق فأحضره فقال جبرائيل: يا رسول الله أنا أصب الماء على هذه الخلع وأنت تفركهما بيدك فتصبغ بأي لون شاءا فوضع النبي صلى الله عليه وآله حلة الحسن في الطشت فأخذ جبرائيل يصب الماء ثم أقبل النبي صلى الله عليه وآله على الحسن وقال: يا قرة عيني باي لون تريد حلتك فقال: أريدها خضراء ففركها النبي صلى الله عليه وآله في يده في ذلك الماء فأخذت بقدرة الله لونا أخضر فائقا كالزبرجد الأخضر فأخرجها النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وأعطاها الحسن عليه السلام فلبسها ثم وضع حلة الحسين عليه السلام في الطِّشت وأخذ جبرائيل عليه السلام يصب الماء فالتفت النبي إلى الحسين عليه السلام وكان له من العمر خمس سنين وقال له: يا قرة عيني اي لون تريد حلتك فقال الحسين عليه السلام: يا جداه أريدها تكون حمراء ففركها النبي صلى الله عليه وآله بيده في ذلك الماء، فصارت لونا أحمر فائقا كالياقوت الأحمر، فلبسها الحسين عليه السلام فسر النبي صلى الله وآله بذلك وتوجه الحسن والحسين إلى أمهما عليها السلام فرحين مسرورين فبكى جبرائيل عليه السلام لما شاهد تلك الحال فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وآله: يا أخي جبرائيل في مثل هذا اليوم الذي فرح فيه ولداي تبكي وتحزن فبالله عليك الا ما أخبرتني لم حزنت فقال جبرائيل: اعلم يا رسول الله إن اختيار ابنيك على اختلاف اللون فلا بد للحسن أن يسقوه السّم ويخضر لون جسده من عِظَم السّم ولا بد للحسين عليه السلام أن يقتلوه ويذبحوه ويخضب بدنه من دمه فبكى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وزاد حزنه لذلك
